5 Reasons walk away.  

JESUS DID

Mark 8:11 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came and started to argue with him. Testing him, they demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.

12 When he heard this, he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.” 13 So he got back into the boat and left them, and he crossed to the other side of the lake.

AVOID THE APPEARANCE OF EVIL

Prov. 26:11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.

That word there fool actually comes from the root word “evil”.

You need to talk away from arguments with a fool… 

Garth define fool. simple: in this context it is someone who is arguing their opinion in arrogance and without the intent to learn anything.

To the outsider who is just simply watching… they may have no information about the argument so they do not know who is right or wrong. But they will see who is not evil by the person who simply chooses to walk away and not argue. 

TO PROTECT THE PEACE 

Psalm 119:161 

Powerful people harass me without cause,

    but my heart trembles only at your word.

I rejoice in your word

    like one who discovers a great treasure.

I hate and abhor all falsehood,

    but I love your instructions.

164 

I will praise you seven times a day

    because all your regulations are just.

Those who love your instructions have great peace

    and do not stumble.

Did you catch this: He is being harassed but he walks away and does not stumble. 

WHY? to protect the peace. 

YOU HAND SOMEONE OVER TO SATAN

1 Cor. 5:5 Paul is not even with the church of Corinth. And he does not feel the need to go there in order to hand someone over to satan. NOW LISTEN… this is kind of a big deal. I would think anyway. This is the only time I can find in scripture handing a person over to satan… but Paul does not even go there. He simply states what should be done and leaves it there. 

So in a sense he doesn’t even walk away… it’s not even worth his time. 

MARRIAGE COVENANT BROKEN

Matthew 5:32

Jesus says when a spouse breaks the marriage covenant by having sex with another person you can divorce.

**I find it interesting that Jesus doesn’t say… his grace will heal, love covers a multitude of sin, Patience wins in the end etc…

HE COULD HAVE SAID A LOT OF THINGS THAT SOUNDED BIBLICAL. But he doesn’t - he says “walk.

Now I know a lot of marriages that have healed through those terrible situations…

BUT HONESTLY… AS A PASTOR… Most do not. only about 3% make it.

I think it is an act of grace for God to say… walk.
