The Everyday Storyteller

5 shortcuts to make storytelling easier for you.

Listen Later

I’m all for shortcuts when they work. Here are 5 things you can do to make storytelling easier for you. And tune in to the next episode for 5 things you should absolutely avoid doing.

  1. Re-use stories that have worked well in the past using a different format

    1. Talk about the things you know (rather than stressing about what you don’t) Like your own story.

      1. Outsource the stuff that would take ages to do/learn or that you really don’t enjoy doing. There are no medals for doing everything yourself.

        1. Stop thinking you need to always re-invent the wheel. Take inspiration from others. If someone has a great idea that you can adapt and make your own, go for it. But don’t forget to credit them!

          1. Use templates. It’s not to say you should always tell the same story in the same way but templates take away the guess work and stress of thinking how you need to structure something.

          2. You can get my How to Tell a Business Story workbook which comes complete with a storytelling template, story framework and 10 ready-to-go story ideas you can use and make your own for just £20 (rip £25). Buy here and use the code everyday23 when you checkout.
