Slime Sam and his human friend Sue really like their ant farm • How to Build an ANT FARM AT HOME , but they don't want to stop at that. They want a bigger colony, so they get more ants and a new formicarium for them. It's easy to assemble and fun to decorate! This ant farm has a large area which ants can explore and get their food. This area is called the arena and Sue decorates it to look like a seashore: there's sand, blue pebbles to imitate the sea, several large stones, artificial plants, a small wooden house, and even a toy turtle! It is important to remember that the arena can be decorated only when the ants settle in.
To make sure your ants are happy and healthy, you need to moisturize the system of pathways. It can be done by wetting plaster-covered segments of this formicarium. Make sure you use very pure water, preferably distilled water. All decor elements and food should be as clean as possible, too. Remember to clean the arena from time to time, because that's where the ants will take their rubbish out.
This colony is formed by harvester ants, Messor Structor. They are known for grinding seeds with their mandibles into fine flour. They use this flour to make food for their babies and share food with fellow ants. Their colony can grow up to 50 000 specimen! Sam and Sue are eager to see if their colony can grow that big.
