This week we are talking about a Phoenix PD Officer who is training to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, while raising money for a local non-profit. We are not saying her name because this officer is working a case involving some dangerous people. The non-profit she’s working with is called Angels on Patrol, which is an Arizona organization that provides officers resources to help people they come across while on-duty. Examples of resources AoP provides are food, clothing and even shelter for victims and community members who are down on their luck. Officers will sometimes reach into their own pockets to make sure members of the community are taken care of after they leave a particular call. Angels on Patrol aims to make sure an officer can provide help, without having to pay for it themselves. 100% of the funds allocated by Angels on Patrol are the benefit of donations, and fundraisers like this are crucial to its mission. The officer we speak to in this episode is funding her own trip to Tanzania, while also fundraising for Angels on Patrol. The trip is guided by another local non-profit, K2 Adventures.
