This week on the Phoenix 5-0 Show we are talking about the week that was in Washington D.C., where thousands from law enforcement agencies across the country celebrated Police Week. The Phoenix Police Department was there honoring the lives of fallen officers Phil Vavrinec and Thomas Craig. Vavrinec and Craig both lost their battle with COVID after contracting the virus on duty, and their names were permanently etched on the wall of the National law Enforcement officer’s Memorial. Joining myself on the show are Sergeant Phil Krynsky and Media Production Specialist Adolpho Navarro. Krynsky and Navarro traveled to Washington D.C. for the purpose of capturing photos and videos of the events to present to the families, and post on social media. Sgt. Krynsky is a 19-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department and Navarro comes to PD after an extensive career in filmmaking and Communications at the University of Arizona. This was both of their first time in Washington D.C. for Police Week, so we discussed the emotions they felt as being not only sworn but also civilian. We recapped some of the events and discussed their importance in police culture.
