Phoenix Police Rolls Out New Crime Reduction Plan (June 5, 2023) The Phoenix Police Department is excited to releasing its new Crime Reduction Plan aimed at making Phoenix a safer place to live, work and visit. This plan is designed to provide guidance to staff on preventing and reducing crime by utilizing a community and victim-centered approach and focusing on a number of key areas. Interim Chief Michael Sullivan has identified four focus areas that he believes will drive down violent crime by 5% and property crime by 8%. Those areas include focusing on the most violent people, the most active places, prohibited possessors, and violent offenders with outstanding warrants. In addition, the plan lays out performance objectives used to enhance accountability and assess this program as it moves forward. Commanders in each precinct will use the Crime Reduction Plan as a guide to customize action plans for their specific areas. This will help address the issues in individual neighborhoods and business communities in each precinct.
