The first chapter discusses metabolomics as a tool to discover hemiterpenoid glycosides (HTGs) in Arabidopsis thaliana and their production as a result of low foliar nitrate and the subsequent reprogramming of the MEP pathway. Another chapter details the application of Electrospray Ionization Traveling Wave Ion Mobility Spectrometry Mass Spectrometry (TWIMS–MS) for the structural analysis and separation of plant phenolics, such as proanthocyanidins and flavonoid glycosides. Further chapters explore the production and biosynthesis of camptothecin in plant cell cultures, the use of Plant Defense Activators (PDAs) to induce resistance in cereal crops against pests and pathogens, and the potential of phytochemicals for pest management, including their roles as herbicides and fungicides. Collectively, these sources highlight the ongoing research into the structure, function, biosynthesis, and practical application of various plant natural products.
