We are working through a first glance familiarization of the book of John. Today we are marking our observations of Chapter 2

Things to look out for:

• time markers
• geographic markers
• key words
• connecting words
• verbs
• lists

Notable things:
Verses 1-12 Wedding at Cana in Galilee (wine miracle- 1st sign) 

1. who was there?
2. what was the problem?
3. what kind of jars were they?
4. who were the witnesses?

                 verses 13-22 Jesus at the temple (turning over tables)

1. what is being sold in the temple courts?
2. why was there a need for currency exchange?
3. how did Jesus drive animals and sellers out?
   1. with what? saying what? to whom?
4. what were the animals for?
5. what was the response of the witness?
6. what is the timing (what time of year, based on festival)?

                 verses 23- 25 theological statement summary 

1. what does this tell you about the character of God?
