#51 Killian Noe on Recovery and Belonging

Listen Later

Killian Noe is the Founding Director of Recovery Cafe in Seattle, WA, a refuge of healing and transformation for women and men who have been traumatized by homelessness, addiction and other mental health challenges. Prior to moving to Seattle in 1999 and starting Recovery Cafe in 2003, Killian lived in Washington, D.C. where she was a part of Church of the Saviour and was the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Samaritan Inns, a non-profit providing housing and recovery services. She currently serves as a Pastoral Counselor at Recovery Cafe and also helps groups beyond Seattle start Recovery Cafes in their communities, which you can learn more about here. In this episode of the RePlacing Church Podcast, she joins me to discuss:

The work of Recovery Cafe
Why they call people at Recovery Cafe “Members” and not “Clients”
The power of Recovery circles
How to start a Recovery Cafe in your community
The one thing she would replace in the church
