Nehemiah, a cupbearer, was burdened by the problems of his generation. His heart for his people led him to fast and pray for an answer from God. The king saw his distress and asked what he could do to help. We often miss part of the message here. Nehemiah didn’t just reply with the first thing he could think of, instead, he had been fasting and praying in preparation for this question.
