Beethoven, a Folkie? Maybe not in the Woodie Guthrie sense, but his use of folk songs supported numerous works, especially Wellington's Victory. He even arranged some lyrical, classic Welsh tunes. Tchaikovsky was a great adapter of classic Russian folk tunes.
