German is a funny language sometimes. You learn a word like
fahren (to drive) and you think, “Great, I know this word!” But then German plays a little trick. When you say
I drive, it stays
I drive. But when you say
he drives, suddenly the word changes a little and becomes
he drives. Same idea, same time, just a tiny vowel jump in the middle! It's a bit like English
sing – sang, where the sound changes. German just likes to do this little sound switch even when we are still talking about right now. Don't worry — once you see the pattern, it's actually quite fun.
