The most significant mitzvah which outweighs all other mitzvos of the Torah put together is that of studying Torah. This mitzvah has no specific amount, the obligation incumbent upon every male is the entire day whenever he has the availability. The Rosh Yeshivas tell us the parameters of the majority of mitzvos are generally objective but by Torah study it's individualized based on his personal circumstances and the default is he must learn whenever he has time. Similarly a reason we don't make an after blessing on Torah study is because we are always engaged in learning even if we are busy with other obligations in the interim. One can be absolved from this mitzvah while involved in his occupation but when speaking lashon hara which obviously doesn't benefit his livelihood he will be negating this mitzvah.

וּשְׁאָרֵי זְמַנִּים לִפְעָמִים יוֹצֵא הָאָדָם נָקִי מִזֶּה הֶעָוֹן מִדִּין שֶׁל מַעְלָה, עֲבוּר שֶׁעָסַק בְּפַרְנָסָתוֹ, אוֹ שֶׁמְחַשֵׁב בְּרַעֲיוֹנָיו בְּאֵיזֶה אֹפֶן לְהַשִּׂיג אֶת מִחְיָתוֹ  אֲבָל בְּעֵת שֶׁמְסַפֵּר לָשׁוֹן הָרָע אוֹ רְכִילוּת, ?מַה תּוֹעֶלֶת יַגִּיעַ לוֹ בְּפַרְנָסָתוֹ מִזֶּה

וְכֵן רָאִיתִי כָּתוּב בְּשֵׁם הַגְּרָ''א (קול אליהו החדש, אבות פרק ג'), שֶׁפֵּרֵשׁ מַהוּ דִּין וּמַהוּ חֶשְׁבּוֹן, וּפֵרֵשׁ: דִּין הַיְנוּ עַל עֲבֵרָה עַצְמָה, וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן הַיְנוּ שֶׁמְחַשְּׁבִין עִמוֹ בְּעֵת הַדִּין עַל הַזְּמַן שֶׁעָבַר עֲבֵרָה, שֶׁהָיָה יָכוֹל לְקַיֵּם מִצְוָה.
