Andrew Cunanan was a spree killer who murdered five people across four states in just three months in 1997, most notoriously assassinating Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace outside his Miami mansion. Cunanan started his crime spree by beating his friend Jeffrey Trail to death with a hammer in Minneapolis, then killed his ex-lover David Madson, a Chicago real estate mogul Lee Miglin, and cemetery caretaker William Reese before making Versace his final victim.
