Eds finally tells Sean the tale of show nemesis Albert Goodwill Spalding and his retirement days outside of baseball, where he continued to use his power and influence on the game. Spalding "[forsook] baseball for mysticism" with a new old bride and joined a California cult but he just couldn't stay away from the game and Eds sends Sean into existential crisis when he begins to poke holes in baseball's origin story.
