Yuko Chino was the cult leader who used her belief system, Chino-Shoho, to gather followers together, with the stated goal of scientific research that would help save the world from disasters. This pseudo-scientific commune, called the Pana-Wave Laboratory, made headlines in 2003 when it attempted to avert the end of the world by kidnapping an artic seal.
