This week, we feature the first The Charlatans record I ever owned — Us and Us Only — as a tribute to lead singer, the wonderful Tim Burgess, who in this time of socially distant lockdown homeboundness, has been orchestrating dailing listening parties on Twitter — calling in his indie scene mates far and wide to join fans around the world, listen to a favourite record, and enjoy a bit of a director's commentary from band members and producers as it goes along.
There's a magic in knowing that you're listening along with thousands of others, all at once. Just, pure passion for the art, and real wholesomeness about everyone's involvement. I listened to Pulp's Different Class at the weekend, along with friends in the UK. It was deeply heartening in exhausting times. You should join in: Follow Tim Burgess on Twitter, or check out #timstwitterlisteningparty for past banter, and timstwitterlisteningparty.com, for the schedule.
