In the late 1970s, residents of Circleville, Ohio started receiving threatening letters from an anonymous source. The letters - which some say number in the thousands - contained deeply personal details accusing locals of everything from affairs to murder.

This week, we’re digging into a deeply unsettling story of surveillance, suspicion, and small-town grudges. The case led to an arrest, a trial, and a prison sentence - but no matter what police did, the letters kept on coming. To this day, people still ask: Did the police get it right?
