Joy and peace partner together in raising our expectation of God’s goodness in our lives and developing a deeper trust in Him.

I used to feel guilty for experiencing and expressing joy in the midst of difficulty because somberness like the “responsible response” --  the response of someone who had control of the situation.

But now I know that when I experience joy, even in the midst of hard circumstances, I am reflecting the One who is actually in control.
