Online Permission Slips

  • No School on Monday (Labor Day Holiday). We will still be online next week. The new back to school in-person date will be not until at least September 22nd.
  • We will be starting the DARE program soon with Officer D’Alena. She needs you to approve your child’s participation in the DARE program.  Click here to fill out the permission slip.
  • Back to School Night is officially pushed back to a day TBD however I’d like to hold a form on Back to School Night for just our class. I will send a video with lots of information about what I’d normally present at Back to School Night and then I will have an opportunity to join a video call for you to say hello and/or ask questions. Please follow this link between 4:30 and 5:30 on Wednesday September 9th to participate. The passcode is: gray
  • Reader’s Workshop

The kids will start their first full unit of reading fiction books. We’ll discuss choosing books, summarizing, and getting to know characters like a friend. Yesterday we finished A Long Walk to Water. It is a wonderful book with a great twist at the end. Be sure to ask your child about their thoughts on the book and the final small project they worked on for the book

    Writer’s Workshop

This week the kids will be revising one of their stories by using a checklist, learning from the pros, and editing with some extra help on ways to use commas. We will have a small celebration of their writing on Thursday.

    Math

    Math Answers and Help Here

This week students will finish up the first part of the unit we are working on. Currently we are studying the area and perimeter of rectangles while reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and decimals. We will have some review on Wednesday this week before a quiz on Thursday.

    History

We will continue our study of early humans in particular, hunter gatherer societies and the students will work on their early human flipbooks. We will review for a short quiz on hunter gatherers on Friday.

    Science

The kids will work with Mr. Nelson in science lab and we may start our first unit from our science textbook.

    Thank you,

    Mr. Gray
