Christianna Bonin (PhD ‘21) studies visual art and design practices from the mid-nineteenth century to the present, with a focus on interactions between Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. Her research revolves around cultural politics and critical distinctions of art and craft, copy and original, and conceptual and manual labor. Her current book project is titled Decentering Russia: Art and Empire, 1900-75. She is also a contributing critic at Artforum Magazine.
