Fathers Fire

58. Sincerely, Brenda - An Interview with Kenneth Nelson Jr.

Listen Later

This week I sit down with Kenneth Nelson Jr. writer, director, and producer of the film Sincerely, Brenda. We explore the genesis of his film that explores a recovering alcoholic’s attempts to bridge the gap between his estranged boys upon the unexpected death of their mom. It’s an emotional, hard look at what many families face or have gone through dealing with alcoholism.

I HIGHLY recommend Sincerely, Brenda. I am so grateful to interview Kenneth.  His movie highlights the hard-hitting, painful journey that the fallout of alcoholism plagues many families.  I think one of the things that were reinforced to me is that change is a difficult process both for the person addicted and those with their circle. The process of mending hearts can hurtful. Learning how to forgive and extending love when the walls of hurt are raw, real, close to the heart, and difficult to break down that making amends can be a slow but capable process.

I think you’re going to love this episode. Please send me an email with any thoughts or if you would like to discuss something you are struggling within your family.
