The last two summers (2023 & 2024) were given an overarching cultural moniker that defined the season, last summer was the summer of Brat and the one before was Barbie. This summer however... girl wtf was that? While some things showed a glimmer of promise like Lorde’s virgin (virgin summer) or even the dreaded labubu (labubu summer) nothing has quite achieved the cultural prominence to define the season the way the last two years have. One thing that has become apparent though, is that this summer has been one of the most contentious and stressful, with the impacts of climate change becoming more apparent with dust, record-breaking temperatures and the continued rise of fascism making us all feel too warm for comfort.
