First Loser 7/7/03

i struck gold
when the iron was hot
and drew blood
when my paint went stale
the build-up
the preparation
only to have the bubble bursting
only to congratulate someone else again
job well done, maybe next year
gave it your all but wasn't enough
here comes my home coach to make me tough
cursing and spitting and shaking his head
"dammit BOY you could've tried harder"
did you come here to lose? i'm ashamed of you
