Welcome back to Nuanced Beauty!
As you might guess, it's more nuanced than that! In this episode, I share my health story, and how drastically my view has shifted on eating "healthy." Having spent most of my teenage years in the midwest and coming from a modest sole-income situation, I most definitely saw buying organic as not necessary and just a way of making someone feel better about themselves, or perhaps superior. And perhaps in my early twenties, health concerns were not at the forefront of my mind either. Fast forward to correcting my BM's and getting rid of seasonal brain fog through diet changes, I flipped my script on eating. It's been a journey!
But now, how do we have conversations with folks who don't think the same as us when it comes to the grocery store? This is SO hard! I share how there's almost this "feeling-it-out" conversation with buzzwords before you get into the vulnerable decisions of what foods you choose. We talk a little about how safe out food industry is in the country, but safe and optimal are two different things. We talk about the double-edged sword of mass food production and crop insurance. We also talk about what is REALLY ours to do, in that we don't need to change anyone's mind on how they eat, but is it possible for us to let go of the cringe, give each other the benefit of the doubt, and be willing to dive deeper into this topic?
