On today’s episode, we’ll be going back to the late 90s to discuss one of The WB’s few Black sitcoms, Smart Guy! Set in Washington, D.C, this series centers 10-year-old prodigy who is advanced several grades and placed in the 10th grade, attending the same high school as his older siblings. While the premise was a bit unusual, Smart Guy had all the trappings of the classic family sitcom, and enjoyed a brief but successful run on The WB, as well as syndication on seven other networks globally.
