Today’s service includes a starting vision of Christ recorded in Revelation chapter 1. It presented a very different version of reality from the one experienced by many in the early church who knew suffering and persecution. It assured them that Christ was triumphant and evil would never have the last word.

As we reflect on the plight of people living in Afghanistan, and as we remember the plight of refugees seeking help in our own country, we all need to hold on to the vision that in the end goodness and love will prevail. We also think today about the alternative reality of the internet, and reflect on how we as Christians should make sense of it.
