6. A Mindful Approach to COVID-19: Trusting the Process of Life

"Life is a process, a flow of energy, a sense of being that can seem as elusive as the wind. We can see and feel something within us, something deeper than the surface, something that moves us but remains just out of reach. This something, the essential flow of energy that gives us life, holds its own intelligence, direction, and timing. Despite its intangible nature, there are ways to get in touch with this flow of energy, and in turn become more intimately engaged with the spirit of life.

Challenge Yourself:

  1. Cultivate trust. Explore your relationship with trust. Being supported by something or someone (including yourself) takes great courage and comes with the risk of being let down. Make a list of factors that earn your trust over time. Set the intention to honor these qualities in your interactions with yourself and others.
  • Listen to your breath. Get proof of life by hearing yourself breathe. Not convinced? With over twenty thousand breaths each day, you’ll have ample opportunity to keep testing the system. Every time we breathe in and breathe out, we engage with life. Interact with the wisdom of the body by getting in touch with the sounds of your breath.
  • Believe in your body. The body abounds with trustworthy processes. The next time you feel broken by life, remind yourself that your body continues to be whole. The heart beats around one hundred thousand times each day, bones regenerate on their own, millions of cells are produced every second, and connective tissues join all aspects of our being as one unified matrix." -Courtney Bauer
