This episode of the "EACCNY Brexit Musings" series focuses on a practical guide to preparing for Brexit. With political noise increasing, businesses cannot afford to wait for final certainty on the outcome of the UK/EU negotiations. Their focus must now turn to practical, commercial, no-regret solutions that mitigate negative impacts of change.
The COVID-19 pandemic, together with the removal of previously published easements, means that preparing for Brexit is now significantly different than previous Brexit deadlines. Any previous planning assumptions need to be reassessed.
Relevant actions must be taken urgently, but what can companies still do in the days that remain? The lead time for implementing many mitigating strategies has passed.
Here, Sally Jones, EY’s Brexit and Trade Strategy Lead in the UK, will take you through the ten key Brexit domains (goods and customs; supply chain; trade in services; talent; IT systems; legal; regulatory; commercial; Ireland; and tax and finance) and set out some of the operational actions every business that trades in or with the UK needs to take. She is joined by her colleague, Adam Fraser, the Business Development leader for EY’s Brexit team in the UK. He works closely with Sally in helping clients to understand and mitigate against the potential impacts across the 10 key Brexit domains.
Sally Jones leads EY’s Trade Strategy and Brexit team. She is a leading specialist in trade policy from both a global and Brexit (UK/EU) perspective.
Prior to joining EY, Sally was Director for International Trade Policy and Global Brexit Insights at a professional services firm.
