6 - Dr. Adam Rapoport: Maintaining Hope

Adam Rapoport, MD, MHSc, joins us to discuss the history of residential hospice and palliative care, why palliative care should be incorporated into all areas of healthcare, how being genuinely human is fundamental to building meaningful relationships with patients, and so much more!


Dr. Adam Rapoport is a general pediatrician with a Masters in Bioethics. He is an Associate Professor in both the Departments of Paediatrics, and Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, as well as a Project Investigator in the Child Health and Evaluative Sciences Program at the SickKids Research Institute. In 2011, he became the first Medical Director of the Paediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), the palliative care service at SickKids. In 2013, he became Medical Director at Toronto’s first pediatric residential hospice – Emily’s House. His academic work focuses on the intersection of his 3 primary interests: paediatrics, palliative care, and ethics.
