During the pandemic he wrote, directed and co-starred in the BBC Television series ‘Staged’, playing himself, alongside exaggerated versions of Michael Sheen and David Tenants, as well as appearances from Dame Judi Dench and Samuel L Jackson. This comical six-part lockdown series was captured using video conferencing technology, which has put Simon Evans on the forefront of directing virtual TV shows.
