Kelly starts off this episode with telling us about how her journey with yoga and meditation started. In the beginning she was more into the physical aspects of yoga and admits she was a “shavasana skipper”, but when she started doing it with her mom after she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, she started getting more into the “softer side” of yoga. Yoga has been a way for her to escape those hard times that have come up in her life.
We live in such a loud society, with tons of stimulation, and issues beneath the surface keep getting pushed down, and we force ourselves to stay busy so we don’t have to deal with those issues.
A lot of people don’t start meditation because of the misconception that they have to turn off their mind and sit in silence and that feels hard for them so they don’t start.
Separate yourself from the idea that there’s good and bad feelings, and that there are just feelings.
Kelly’s thoughts on how meditation can benefit moms and how to get started if you’ve never meditated before.
