JPL's mission is unmanned exploration of the solar system. Robert Hogg has been an engineer with JPL for over two decades and is now the surface-phase lead engineer for the Mars 2020 mission. We discuss the remote science system - hi-res color imager, a laser to vaporize materials and a spectrometer to analyze material, the helicopter being sent to Mars.
