6. Psychiatry, Psych Wards, ADHD, Depression, & Med School | Daniel Villalpando
In this episode, I speak with my friend and coworker Daniel Villalpando. Daniel and I have worked together as mental health technicians for only about 2 months now in the adult female unit at our psychiatric hospital. However, he has been there for about a year total and I have been there (on both the adult women and men's unit) for about 8 months. Daniel is currently applying for medical school for his second year on his journey to get into medicine, but more specifically psychiatry. We talk about his past major of business in college and how he eventually made the decision to switch over to mental healthcare. We also talk about Adderall (ADD for ALL), ADHD, depression, and antidepressants. Although the current system for inpatient mental healthcare is far better than having no system at all, we talk about some things that could be improved to help both the patients and staff more effectively. This conversation has been going on for about 2 months already and I am so happy that he finally decided to come on the podcast. Depending on our schedules, we may be doing another psychiatry and psychiatric hospital episode in the future.
