Love Is Us: Exploring Relationships and How We Connect

#6: Recovering from Infidelity, with Dr. Deb Miller

Listen Later

How do people move on from infidelity? Estimates of rates of infidelity vary wildly, which isn't suprising; people don't like to admit it, even to themselves. But according to the American Psychological Association (APA), infidelity in the USA accounts for 20-40% of divorces. And yet, many people remain together after the infidelity has been discovered and even make their relationship stronger than ever.

Dr. Deb Miller, LPC, has been working with couples for over 20 years, helping them find their way after infidelity. In this episode, she talks about how the one who had the secret affair can make a heart-felt, impactful apology to their partner. Dr. Deb provides plenty of space for couples to decide whether or not they want to work on their committed relationship or end it. She also helps people reflect on their actions, their relationship, and what they want going forward, allowing them to have more satisfying relationships -- either with one another, or in future relationships.
