Recover Yourself: Out from Under the Influence

6 TaoCast with Sober Faust

Listen Later

I am so excited to be talking with Sober Faust this week. Sober Faust, like me is in recovery and has a great head on his shoulders. The work he is doing is deep and he has a lot to share in this episode, especially about remaining meek, not only in recovery but in life. Sober Faust has his own podcast which focuses on all forms and stages of recovery, Sober Weekly, which you can find on YouTube and his website SoberFaust.com

I reached out to Sober Faust because I loved his message of sobriety and although at this time he only has 17 months he is speaking with the wisdom of someone with much more. This TaoCast features Verse 26 which states:

The heavy is the root of the light.

The unmoved is the source of all movement.

Thus the Master travels all day

without leaving home.

However splendid the views,

she stays serenely in herself.

Why should the lord of the country

flit about like a fool?

If you let yourself be blown to and fro,

you lose touch with your root.

If you let restlessness move you,

you lose touch with who you are.

TaoCasts are part of the Recover Yourself podcast series and features a guest who chooses any number between 1 and 81 (the number of verses in the Tao Te Ching) We the read and discuss that Tao verse.

I translate the title of Tao Te Ching to "The Cannon of Reason" and this series is about living within reason. We all have to live with each other and if we are going to do that we have to start understanding that there is only one way to do that, look inward to where we are all connected and where our love springs from.

Recover Yourself is a podcast series focused on recovering strength and power we have inadvertently given up. There is no limit to our power and yet we have all be shown, warned, and taught to live in fear that we are not enough and that there is not enough resource in the world for us.

As a former addict I am coming out with the message that we can all recover. I am changing the conversation from "Recover From" to "Recover To" and I want to help people recover who they are.

MartinJon is the host of Recover Yourself and a mentor, speaker and originator of Portrait Facilitation which helps people recover themselves completely.
