World Trade Center 7, a 47-story office building that fell in the late afternoon of September 11, 2001. Unlike the Twin Towers, WTC 7 was not struck by an airplane. Instead, the building was heavily damaged by debris from the collapse of the North Tower, which ignited multiple fires across several floors. With the water supply compromised and sprinklers unable to function, the fires burned uncontrolled for hours.
