What's your Emotional Quotient (EQ)? Yup, for this one, the Yes Girls explore this topic with Adelle Onyango: media personality, author, social activist, speaker, poet, podcaster, entrepreneur, and honorary Yes Girl (@adelleonyango), and the mighty force behind @legallycluelessafrica.
Remember, it's Season 7, meaning Akumu and Claire are attempting to do the "learning something new" challenge in situ, i.e., in the studio, next to the expert as the recording happens. All of this just to make it even more blindingly obvious that YOU can say yes to something new even if you're short on time.
That means this Yespisode explores EI or EQ firstly through role-playing as the quintessential Yes Challenge. And who better to do this with the girls than Adelle?! She embodies personal development, self-awareness, and emotional healing beyond her obvious badassery. She sits in as the judge, challenger, and all-seeing, all-knowing guest expert.
The Yes Challenge is a 15-minute role-play on relationship management, self-awareness and self-regulation, in particular. In the scenario, a couple, Amy and Jerome (played by Claire and Akumu) is discussing a relationship issue connected to control and freedom.
Adelle then rates them, and we hear from her about how she says 'yes' to being the captain of her emotions in her daily life and how we can all benefit from improved emotional intelligence.
This episode will give you valuable insights into how to improve your emotional intelligence, particularly in relationships and at the workplace, the benefits of doing so, the importance of empathy, social awareness and communication, as well as the ultimate goal of being self-aware before anything else.
So tune in as Adelle and the Yes Girls explore how to move from handling emotional baggage obliviously to being captains and proper caretakers of our emotional ships.
