The Christmas story is full of misplaced expectations. People had expected a Messiah but Jesus arrived in a way that no one was prepared for. Rather than arriving in strength, privilege, or power, He is born into poverty, obscurity, and apparent weakness. Isn’t our lives are full of misplaced expectations of Jesus as well? We often expect Him to “show up” in certain places but it’s often in the overlooked places of our lives that we actually find Jesus there.
