Is anger a sin?

Is it the result of sin? The cause of sin? Is the problem in feeling the emotion or the action we take after doing so? Can we change what we feel? The scriptures talk about God's anger, is it an emotion like what we experience or something entirely different? If we do feel it, what should we do about it?
