Welcome back to Nuanced Beauty!
INTERVIEW EPISODE
I met Katy recently through St. Johns BFF group, and we got to chatting about cleaning and the clutter we accumulate, and all the woes we've gotta work through when it comes to our stuff. It turns out that Katy had recently launched her own business with the heart of teaching others to "make room for what matters in life" by teaching families how to keep their home tidy and declutter when necessary. How perfect, right? She's just the person we need to talk to, so here we are.
Katy and I talked through some of her experience with decluttering her own home, how to work through sentimental value in items and what needs to go, as well as the passing of a loved one and stepping in to take care of their space. We also dive in to how to help our children get onboard with a tidy home and tips and tricks to communicate well and help them develop good habits that will set them up for success in life. She gives me some advice on how to work well with my child who seems to be a little more attached to things than I am. And she also shares some tips for joining families together. Katy and her husband are a blended family with five kids, and the process went decently well because they worked hard to make sure each child was seen, and loved, and they focused their intention on sticking together as a family to lift each other up. She believes this has made a great impact on their home and how they work together today.
Her book recommendation(s):
Anything by Dana K White, but in particular she loved How to Manage your Home without Losing Your Mind.
