This week we're featuring Maxïmo Park's 2012 record The National Health, which seemed somewhat fitting given its gesture at social ills and our current pandemic disaster. Also this week, the stunning first cut from Max Richter's United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights commission Voices. It was powerful when I got to see it performed back in February, but right now in this moment it resonates all the more.
Also this week, there's a new single from Doves. It's really wonderful, and so satisfying to see a band come back from an 11 year hiatus full of the energy to explore their sound that makes all their records familiar, and yet never derivative. I'm very excited for album number 5 later this year.
