#65: Metabolism | Improving Metabolic Health

Today we talk about metabolism, how to accurately define metabolism, signs our metabolic health might be in trouble, and things we can do about it. A lot of times we think metabolism refers to fat digestion or how quickly we can get rid of food. Often we’ll say, ‘Well, that person can eat more because they have a faster metabolism than I do. That’s a flaw because metabolism refers to the sum total of chemical reactions the body performs every single second. The body works tandemly as a system where you have chemical reactions in cells and in cellular networks, in organs, organ systems, and in the entire body that help to propel it to do amazing things. 7 things we can do to improve metabolic health: good nutrition, effective exercise, good sleep, focus on gut health, take advantage of science based supplements, take time each day for meditation and mindfulness, and cultivate and have warm social interactions.
