Baby gender reveal parties are rituals that celebrate the gender binary and reinforce gender stereotypes. These parties are harmful because they are the very first attempt to box that baby into a gender that they may not feel represents who they are as they get older. For children to feel safe, we need to knock down the walls that cage them in.
