Marie Laveau is as synonymous with New Orleans as beignets and Mardi Gras. While she might be most identifiable as the mystical voodoo queen of NOLA, Marie's real life is just as important as her legend. Born a free woman of color in the early 1800s, LaVeau built influence through spiritual practice and community work, always looking out for those who needed it most.
