On a day in Seattle, I spent the afternoon at the Book Fair at the old Sand Point Naval Air Station. I was sitting toward the front on the left outside isle. A men came to stand next to me - then he kneeled down. We looked at each other. He said, "I'm afraid I'm not a very good reader." I looked back - tried to focus - gather a coherent answer - and said "Well, I'm not much of a United States Senator." He smiled. The auditorium speaker said "Ladies and Gentleman, please welcome Senator John McCain." He steadied his hand on my chair, came to his feet, and walked toward the stage.
