The Columbia River Quarantine Station, established on the 9th of May, 1899, at Knappton Cove. The Quarantine Station served as a ship disinfection station as well as an isolation facility for people with contagious disorders.
At the Battle of Manila Bay, the USS CONCORD was part of Commodore Dewey's squadron, which defeated the Spanish Pacific Fleet. The ship was fifth in Dewey's six-ship fighting line during the engagement.
