Today (26 of June), marks 68 years since the adoption of the Freedom Charter in 1955. From the 25th till the 26th of June, over 3 000 representatives from the different resistance movements made-up of different race groups made their way through police cordons to gather on a dusty square in Kliptown where they were in one accord giving their own inputs to the South Africa they would like to live in. One of the major adaptations they agreed on was that South Africa belongs to all who live in it. From this, they adopted the Freedom Charter a full document that stipulated the roadmap for the future of the country which included, economic inclusion, equality to justice and human rights to name a few. But today as we head towards 30 years of our democracy, South Africans feel disgruntled.
