Dr. Marina Serna Pulido on Legacy
Dr. Marina Serna Pulido is a dedicated higher education professional passionate about first-generation college students with over seven years of experience in community college student services.
Growing up in the Inland Empire of Southern California, her academic journey started at Crafton Hills College, a local community college. She then graduated from CSU San Bernardino with a B.A. in Mass Communications and an M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Redlands. Dr. Serna Pulido received her doctoral degree from the University of Redlands in 2023 with her dissertation study on Latina community college students in the Inland Empire and their experiences with family achievement guilt.
Dr. Serna Pulido’s passion comes from her own experiences as a Latina first-generation college student. By sharing her experiences as a Latina first-gen student, she connects with students, staff, and campus communities to empower students to keep reaching their goals.
Outside of academia, she is a mother and wife and loves spending time with her family. She is also an obsessive Star Wars fan and is very much a Leo.
