For a record setting 7th time in Reaction Time Sports Podcast history, driver of the number 69s Traditional Sprint Car, Jonny Lewerer stops by the Lightspeed Equipment studios for episode 69 presented by DK Designs, to catch up with Mike and Marc and discuss his 2021 season, what he's been up too behind the scenes during the long off-season and his plans for the up coming 2022 race season.
Race Day Rewind Presented by: The Racing Insiders
RTS Main Event Sponsored by: Pretty Polish Junkie
Racing off-seasons in Minnesota tend to be a little more laid back. The cold, the snow and shorter days make it seem like the thought of a new season are far far away. Finding things to do during the winter months is even harder. Jonny on the other hand, always seems to be up to something. Brew hall connoisseur? Bingo champion? YouTube junkie? Beard care expert? Just what in the world has this man been up too during the offseason?!
With the 2021 racing season in the rear view mirror, Jonny reflects on what was another grueling season. Having scored a win at Viking Speedway over Memorial Day weekend early in the year things looked to be heading in the right direction. A string of solid finishes continued throughout the summer but like any racing season, it has its highs and it has its lows. A minor engine issue and a freak seat belt incident threw a monkey wrench into the plans but that didn't stop Jonny from having what says, as his most consistent season in a sprint car.
The plan for 2022? Not to sure according to the driver of the 69s. Having not won a race in his sprint car career at Cedar Lake Speedway, that still remains the main goal before it comes time to hang it up. On the other hand, wanting to get back to seeing different tracks or returning to tracks with a previous history of success. May we see him up North? Will he make the trek out West? Or a trip down South be in the cards this year? Whatever the plan may be, the goal always remains the same. Win.
